Youth and Select World Shows

August is the month of world shows. At the beginning of the month, there is the AQHA Youth World Show, and a couple weeks later is the AQHA Select World Show. Carolyn took clients to both shows, and returned home from with happy and succesful people, and happy horses.

Lauren Anderson and her gelding RV Radical Zip Rod, Phoenix, competed at the AQHYA World Show for their very first time and had a fantastic show! Lauren and Phoenix started competing together the spring of this year, and quickly became a team. The pair competed in the Western Riding, Horsemanship, Trail, and Showmanship. Phoenix is still a green horse in the Trail and Western Riding, never having gone down a full line, and had very limited experience in the Horsemanship and Showmanship. Lauren and Phoenix came to show in the Western Riding and laid out a fantastic prelims pattern and made it back to the semi-finals out of 78 horses! They also laid out very competitive Showmanship and Horsemanship patterns. CRQH was so excited at the success these two have had and cannot wait to see how they do at the Novice Championships.

Carolyn took Angela Moore and Smokin Sensational, Abby, Carol Lindsey and Good and Radical, Bob, and coached Shelley Graham. Angela Moore and her mare Abby qualified in the Trail. This was Angela’s first World Show and she absolutely thrilled to be going. Angela and Abby had great run for their first World Show together and Angela returned home feeling grateful about the experience she gained.

Carol Lindsey and her gelding Bob qualified in the Western Riding and Trail. Carol and Bob had first-rate runs in both events and ended up 3rd in the Super Select placings for both!

Shelley Graham and her gelding Jet Roddin Zippo, Jet, had an awesome world show! Shelley and Jet showed in the Performance Halter Geldings, Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Hunt Seat Equitation. The team was top ten in the Performance Geldings and were 3rd place in the Showmanship! This was the first time Shelley and Jet had won a trophy in the Showmanship before and we were absolutely thrilled for them!

Needless to say CRQH had a busy, but great August! We are so proud of our clients and how they competed at the World Shows, no matter how many times you have gone is always a little bit more pressure there. We’re looking forward to the fall shows and good times they bring.
