Academy of Horsemanship

Lesson Guidelines
  • Lessons are to be prepaid in groups of 4 or more. If you would like to pay for lessons individually, there will be an additional charge of $5.00 per lesson.
  • Students are expected to wear appropriate riding clothes. Riders should wear boots with a riding heel. Everyone is encouraged to wear a protective helmet, but it is mandatory for anyone 13 and under. We do have a few helmets available to borrow on a limited basis; however, we encourage you to bring your own.
  • Private lessons are 45 minutes and semi-private/group lessons are 1 hour. Students will be instructed how to groom, tack, and remove tack from their horses. When students demonstrate their competence with these skills they may come to the barn with ample time to prepare their horse to ride in their lesson. At the completion of each lesson, the students will get to care for their horses, as well. This will allow them to have more time to work in the arena.
  • It is important to remember that your instructor’s time is valuable, as is yours. Please give 24 hour advance notice of cancellation. If this is not adhered to, you will be charged for your lesson. Also, please honor your lesson time. For example, your lesson may be scheduled from 4:00- 4:45. If you arrive late, your lesson would still conclude at 4:45. Your timeliness is important.
